Matt Switzer

Matt has been actively involved in coaching volleyball for over a decade, beginning as a senior in high school where he volunteered with his local junior high team.

Matt was previously the assistant volleyball coach at Robert Morris University in Chicago. He has previously served as a volunteer assistant for Robert Morris and for Miami University (Ohio).

In the Chicagoland area, Matt began coaching with Sports Performance Volleyball Club(Aurora, Illinois) in their Youth program. Prior to founding Club Momentum, Matt worked at Powerhouse Volleyball Club where he filled such roles as youth director, recruiting coordinator and club director for Northshore Assault (2008-2009). He coached teams ranging in age from 13 to 18. In 2008, his 14-1 team finished second out of 82 teams at Great Lakes Power League.

Prior to moving to Chicago, Matt’s volleyball coaching career began in Ohio where he coached for Premier Volleyball Club (Toledo, Ohio). While at Premier, Matt was the head coach of a youth team and assistant coach to an 18 Open team that finished third at AAU Nationals in Orlando, Florida and yielded one All-American.

While attending Miami University (Ohio), Matt coached at Borderline Volleyball Club(Oxford, Ohio) and led a 15 Open team to USAV Nationals in Salt Lake City, Nevada. Following the trip to Nationals, Matt was selected as an assistant coach for the Ohio Valley Region USAV High Performance Youth team that traveled to Austin, Texas to compete with other region all-star teams from across the U.S. At Miami, Matt also played for the men’s volleyball team as a defensive specialist/libero. In 2004, the team finished 3rd at NIRSA Nationals falling to the University of Arizona in the semifinals. Matt also served as a volunteer assistant coach to the Miami University women’s team during their 2004 spring season.
