At the age of eleven I was introduced to the sport of volleyball. From that point on volleyball has become a incredible part of my life!
This will be by fourth year coaching for Chicago Bounce Volleyball Club. In 2012-2013 my 18 U team was repeatedly in the semi-finals and finals of tournaments. All of the players I coached this year showed dramatic improvements in club, and with their high school team. One of my proudest achievements was watching many of the boys I coach compete in the state championships! Also, 3 of our players will be going on to play Division III college volleyball. I couldn’t be any prouder of the program I work for and the athletes I work with. This is a great time to be part of this club as it continues to grow and offer the necessary instructional tools to give the kids confidence to compete at their maximum levels.
Before Bounce I coached at Homer Heat in the south suburbs. Additionally, I have been offering clinics for indoor and sand volleyball for about nine years.
This summer (2013) I created Assassins Beach Volleyball club. This was a way for me to continue to give back to the sport I love. We had over 20 athletes train on the beach this summer. It was one of the most talked about beach programs and the first chartered beach program associated with the Great Lakes Volleyball Region. The success spoke for itself as our athletes were continuously in the playoffs and winning championships.
There have been many charity/volunteer opportunities that I have been part of such the Special Olympics and Chicago Park District programs for inner city youth.
Competition began for me in grammar school and still continues today. In high school I was a member No Limit Volleyball Club which became Synergy. Because of my experience in club I was able to help Andrew High School go back-to-back undefeated conference champs. I also received two All Conference awards, Conference MVP, and captain the state South All Star team.
My college experience was with Lewis University which in 1996 made our first NCAA Final Four appearance and came up short of a National Title. I have continued to play nationally and internationally a great deal with various beach tours forging great memories.
I have never lost my indoor roots and still enjoy a huge hit or dominating block. What I expect from our athletes is nothing short of their best. Last year our athletes made great gains but there is always work that can be done to continue improvement. I truly believe that hard work in the gym transfers over to games, matches, and tournaments. I will focus on the positive, teach them to overcome the negative, and guide them to their optimum potential!
